You want your manuscript professionally published, but you don’t have the experience or contacts necessary to convince a big, traditional publisher to look at it. You’ve considered self-publishing, but you want to know that experience professionals will be on the other end of the phone, rather than a call center employee who has never heard of you or your project. So what is a self-respecting first-time author to do?
That’s where Ivy House comes in. We recognize that there is incredible talent out there, waiting for a chance to shine. We take the time to read and consider the publishing potential of every manuscript submitted; no traditional publisher or agent can promise you that. On the other hand, we will turn down manuscripts that do not meet our editorial standards; if your manuscript is accepted for publication, you can rest assured that it won’t be listed in our bookstore next to a badly typed, barely disguised rip-off of last summer’s Hollywood blockbuster.
We fall in the middle of that spectrum, with traditional publishing on one extreme end of the spectrum and self publishing on the other. As far as traditional publishing goes, we offer experience and quality services–editing, custom layout and design, custom cover design, warehousing, distribution, marketing, etc.–and throw in the comfort of you knowing that you’re not taking on the publishing world alone. We mix in, from the self-publishing side of things, that you will retain all rights and creative control, and nothing will be changed without your approval. We remove the negatives of both worlds and provide you with a custom blend of the positive aspects, which results in the best possible experience for you, the author.
