About The Book: Big Sister Almighty
Have you ever wished you could start your life all over again? Jasmine and Persephanie Jackson do just that in Marcia Leota’s inspiring debut novel, "Big Sister Almighty." A recent divorcée, Jasmine warily responds to a newspaper ad seeking soul singers – in Germany, of all places. She soon finds herself leaving her beloved sister, and everything she has ever known, behind. As big-time success moves closer, she is confronted with scandal and danger, and discovers that things are not always as they seem in the entertainment industry. Back home in Detroit, Jasmine’s older sister, Persephanie, is also struggling. Overwhelmed by a dead-end job, a lifelong weight problem, and a domineering mother, she decides to make serious changes in her lifestyle and to go after her fantasy of being a stand-up comedian. But her day-to-day struggles are complicated by violence and racism – and an unexpected meeting with a very special man. Follow the Jackson sisters as they pursue their dreams of success, their quests for love, and their hopes of being reunited with each other.
